TOUR POSITIONS

Inferno is known for having incredible, diverse, dedicated and engaging team members. One of the first things we often hear from our clients is praise of the staff for their fun and positive energy. For this reason, we take the hiring and training of our team very seriously and maintain high standards for our on-site team members. The hiring process consists of applications, interviews, trainings and tests. Once hired, team members are continuously evaluated and monitored throughout the season.
Please note: first-year crew members are not staffed on more than 5 events initially. There is potential to work additional events as the season progresses, following a positive evaluation.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL TOUR POSITIONS:

1. A passion for the arts and education of the next generation of dancers.

2. Commitment of at least 3 weekends in the season (between February and May).

3. The ability to travel to events Friday mornings and return Monday mornings. 

4. Able to fly out of a MAJOR U.S. airport (not regional). 

5. Comfort traveling via bus, plane, rideshare, car or train.

6. The ability to keep energy up while working 14-16 hour days with limited breaks.

7. Professional attitude, appearance and conduct.

8. Team-player mentality

9. A clean criminal record

10. A US passport or driver's license

  JUDGE  

Inferno judges are expected and trained to analyze, compare, critique and rank performances in a timely and fair manner. Judges are also expected to ensure accurate level placements in accordance with Inferno's level policies. Judges offer verbal critiques into a recorded microphone while the performance is occurring and score on an electronic device. 

Requirements:

Minimum 8 years of dance experience (including at least 3 years as an adult)

Dance teaching experience

Comfort with and knowledge of all styles (including tap, hip hop and modern)

  DIRECTOR  

Inferno Directors are expected to run smooth and enjoyable events from start to finish. Directors are the point of contact for clients and crew members alike and are expected to problem solve, resolve conflict and manage all aspects of the event as needed.

Requirements:

Experience working for a dance competition or convention (or comparable experience in a similar field).

Experience in dance/dance education

Management experience

Comfort Emcee-ing awards ceremonies

Excellent communication and problem solving skills

  ASSISTANT DIRECTOR  

AD's are directors in training! While working on attaining the skills and requirements of a director, assistant directors will learn and perform every crew position while assisting the director throughout the event.

Requirements:

Experience working for a dance competition or convention (or comparable experience in a similar field).

Experience in dance/dance education

Excellent communication and problem solving skills

Comfort engaging in a positive way with dancers of all ages

  TABULATOR  

Tabulators ensure fairness in levels, consistency and accuracy in judging, and recognition of all studios on the Inferno stage. Tabulators also monitor critiques for quality and coordinate judges throughout the weekend.

Requirements:

Dance experience and knowledge

Attention to detail

Organization and ability to remain highly focused on long days

All requirements mentioned in the "all tour position requirements" at the top of this page.

Previous judging or tabulating experience preferred but not required.

  ASSISTANT TABULATOR  

Assistant Tabulators set up, and run the judging software. They monitor for computer or program issues throughout the weekend to ensure critiques are recording and announce routines onto the stage.

Requirements:

Comfort learning and operating a new computer program

Ability to troubleshoot with technology

Organization and ability to remain highly focused on long days

Ability to announce routines onto the stage with energy and positivity

Ability to monitor the pacing and flow of competition and keep the event on time.

  BACKSTAGE MANAGER  

Backstage managers greet, check-in and interact with dancers of all ages while communicating with the judging table to keep the competition running and on-time.  Backstage managers set the tone of the dancer experience and are often recognized by our clients for their fun and outgoing energies.

Requirements:

Energetic, upbeat, encouraging and uplifting personality

Ability to engage and socialize with dancers in a fun and professional manner

Excellent communication and organization skills

Ability to monitor the pacing and flow of competition and keep the event on time.

  APPAREL ATTENDANT  

Apparel attendants greet customers, stock and re-stock inventory and manage transactions at the merchandise area.

Requirements:

Ability to sell and up-sell merchandise

Ability to accurately ring up customers and handle financial transactions

Welcoming and friendly demeanor

  Awards Attendant  

Awards attendants organize and help hand out awards for awards ceremonies

Requirements:

Attention to detail

Organization and ability to remain highly focused on long days

Photographer

Inferno photographers are expected to have photography experience and be able to stay focused on producing high quality photos throughout every single routine of competition while stationary. Photographers will be expected to think on their feet and adjust camera settings to capture the highest quality photos for the dancers and their families to have.

Requirements:

Work samples of photography, action & sport orientated preferred

Demonstrable knowledge of digital photography;

  • Establishing proper exposure in a low light environment

  • Adjusting shutter speed to limit action blur

  • Manual color balancing

Ability to adjust with real-time feedback from supervisors

Ability to remain highly focused on long days

Videographer

Inferno videographers are expected to have videography experience and be able to stay focused on producing high quality videos throughout every single routine of competition while stationary. Videographers will be using a single PTZ camera and a joystick to adjust their frame throughout a performance to smoothly follow the action on stage.

Requirements:

Work samples of past video work

Demonstrable knowledge of digital videography

  • Establishing proper exposure in a low light environment

  • Adjusting shutter speed to limit action blur

  • Manual color balancing

Working knowledge of basic computer navigation

Ability to adjust with real-time feedback from supervisors

Ability to remain highly focused on long days
