SKILL LEVEL

There are THREE separate levels for all age groups and categories which are determined by the skills within the routine, not by those of the individual dancer(s).  Because of this, it is possible to have a dancer perform in two routines of differing levels as long as the skills within the routine match the level. 

 

Keep in mind that Spark (Level 1) routines should exhibit beginner skills, Fire (Level 2) routines should exhibit intermediate skills, and Blaze (Level 3) routines should exhibit advanced skills. 

If a routine contains skills from more than one level, please place it according to the majority of the skills used. 

 

Judging criteria for adjudicated awards will be based on the expected ability of each level.

 

If our panel of judges feels that a routine has been placed in an incorrect level, studio directors / owners will be given the opportunity to move the routine to the appropriate level or that routine will risk disqualification.

When entering a routine in the Open or Character category, skill level should be determined using the skills listed below.  If part/all of an Open or Character routine is in a style not listed, use your own discretion when choosing skill level.
